Ray Dailey
I’ve lived in Columbus most of my life and was in the corporate world (marketing & product management for a national commercial & industrial air conditioning company). With that company, I was transferred to Michigan in 1965 and with a division split, was transferred back to Columbus in 1967. Three years later they wanted to move my desk to New Jersey…and I let them. And, that’s when I made the decision to go into the real estate business and have been a dedicated and involved Realtor with Columbus Realtors…for over 46 years.
But first, I am blessed to be married to my high school sweetheart, Mary (almost 60 years) and have three of the greatest children, seven grandchildren and four great grandchildren, ever. I believe some of the things and interests that have contributed to a reasonable balance in my life are many; starting with knowing the Lord. From there, it’s my beautiful family, being blessed with some musical abilities and interests (and playing guitar for some 68 years (and was with in a gospel quartet (The Gospel Ambassadors). I’m also an old hot-rodder and car enthusiast (having been down a drag strip a few times). Also, sports have been a part of my life and have enjoyed playing a lot of horseshoes, softball, football, volleyball and golf over the years). For the last 8 years, I’ve played rhythm guitar with the Buckeye State Harmonica Club (playing 20+ senior facilities and private parties each year).
As for my real estate career, I’ve been an active Realtor since 1970 (starting with Ogan Gallery of Homes) and obtained my brokers’ license in 1970 and for my first 10+ years was a selling, broker/manager (recruiting, hiring & training). At the Columbus Realtors, I have I’ve served on several committees (Standard Forms, Education, MLS, served as a Trustee (now Director) in 1978 & 1981, chaired the Equal Housing Committee (1980, 1981 & 1986); taught Civil Rights Courses for Columbus Realtors and Ohio Association of Realtors (1987 to 2002) and was the Columbus Realtors’ nominee to the Ohio Association of Realtors for ‘Outstanding Real Estate Educator’ (1990). I also served as President of Northeast Realtor’s Association (1972) and an OAR Trustee (1979-1981).
From 1984 until 2015, I was with the same brokerage (although the name changed a few times along the way; from Holzer-Wollam, King Thompson/Holzer-Wollam, King Thompson and Coldwell Banker King Thompson, Realtors (serving as Relocation Director, Training Manager and Training Director from 1984-1995) when I manager on of the branch offices. And, in 1995, I went back into sales and since 2009, I was on the real estate team for Chris Davis, Auctioneer/Realtor (dba: Auction Ohio). So, it was logical that I become part of AO Real Estate, Realtors…which Chris Davis started in March of 2015.
After 46+ years, I continue to enjoy real estate…as there are no two days a like, no real routine about what we do…and I enjoy that pace. And, on top of that, being associated with a great bunch of people is just a bonus!
